Welcome!

I am here to guide you and inspire you to be your very best!

I understand first-hand the power of private lessons. I studied for years with a vocal coach who also became my professional mentor. Not only did he teach me about singing, he helped me craft a career in the arts.

Following my own private instruction, I began training high school students to become triple threats. I helped teenagers develop their acting and singing skills. I prepared my students for college auditions. And I mentored many to become professional performers themselves.

It’s been twenty years and I have taught hundreds of students. I have expanded my studio to include adults.  Currently about half of my students are teens, and half are adults. I teach everyone from beginners to professionals.

Education

Originally from the Upper Peninsula, I grew up in Chelsea, Michigan. I attended Michigan State University, where my major was psychology and my minor was theatre. I have a Master’s degree in social work from MSU, and I worked as a social worker for ten years.

During young adulthood, I was active in community theatre. Knowing in my heart I wanted to make theatre my life’s work, in 2001 I took a leave of absence from my job, and completed a year-long internship at Boarshead Professional Theatre in Lansing.

In addition to MSU and Boarshead, I studied theatre at University of Florida (Gainesville, FL); Meadowbrook Theatre (Rochester, MI), and Purple Rose Theatre Company (Chelsea, MI).

Teaching & Directing

Since completing my internship, I have been teaching, directing and performing professionally.

I taught musical theatre classes at a number of dance studios. I ran the drama programs at Chelsea High School and Lumen Christi High School for several years. I have led community education classes in theatre.

I have been the producer, director, vocal coach, choreographer, dramaturg, editor and performer for many plays and musicals over the years.

Please see my directing resume for details.

Performing

I enjoy working on both plays and musicals. Besides work in theatre, I have experience acting in films, commercials, and industrials. I have sung for weddings, concerts, fundraisers, and other special events.

I have worked at many professional theatres, including The Dio – Dining and Entertainment (Pinckney), Theatre NOVA (Ann Arbor), Performance Network (Ann Arbor), Jewish Ensemble Theater (Walled Lake), Wild Swan Theatre (Ann Arbor), Open Book Theatre Company (Trenton), Two Muses (West Bloomfield), Boarshead (Lansing), Meadowbrook (Rochester), Croswell Opera House (Adrian), Tipping Point (Northville), Ringwald (Ferndale), Encore Musical Theatre Company (Dexter), The Henry Ford (Dearborn), and others.

Let’s get started!

I am thrilled to share with you what it’s like to be a working professional in the current theater world. I can help navigate where to find auditions, what casting directors are looking for, how to tackle cold readings, choose monologues, approach scenework, and how to build a career by applying your talents in singing and acting.

Please visit my testimonials page to read how I have helped other students succeed!

I am so grateful for the education, mentoring and opportunities I have received. It is my great joy, in turn, to guide you to achieve your life’s goals. Together, we can make your dreams become a reality.
